Did he have ties to ISIS? Was he simply influenced by ISIS?
The shooter had a history of domestic violence. He had also been investigated by the FBI in the past. Despite these things, he was able to purchase both weapons just a few days before the shooting.
Many of the club’s patrons recognized Mateen as a regular there. Some had even chatted with him on apps like Jack’d, Grindr, and Adam4Adam. Maybe he was a self-hating gay. His father certainly could have radicalized his own son.
