Big Changes To Search And Verizon Data Plans: Episode 52

This week John and Nicholas cover updates to Search, Google Music device limit, what happens to an email you send, Doodle 4 Google winner, Verizon data plan changes and Google/Nielsen survey showing web ads are better than TV ads.

1. Big Improvements To Google Search
Google announced ‘Knowledge Graph’ which it says will produce search results much closer to a human response.

2. Google Music Device Limit

Do you frequently switch phones or custom ROMs? Be careful about activating Google Music on each one. You’re limited to 10 devices authorized at a time but can only de-authorize 4. A total of 14 devices can go pretty fast when you’re using Google Music on smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops.

3. What Happens To An Email You Send?Play Video

Google released a quick video and blog post explaining (in simple terms) what happens to an email after you push ‘Send’.

4. Doodle 4 Google Winner

Google’s ‘Doodle 4 Google’ winner has been announced. This year’s winner is a second grader from Wisconsin.

5. New Verizon data plans

Verizon is going to be rolling out “shared data” plans later this summer. Along with the new data plans will be a $30 upgrade fee and no more unlimited data for anyone who is upgrading.

6. Adults Choose Web Over TVVideo

Google teamed up with Nielsen to conduct a survey on TV viewing time by adults. They found that web ads reached a much larger audience than TV commercials. Keep in mind that Google is in the business of selling web ads. But these stats are still interesting and show a shift in where people are consuming media.
